History

If I had to pick one word to define my Scott and I-it would be history. We have much Back and forth history. Reading a dear friend’s blog (Annie) inspired me to share my own slightly tumultuous, less than perfect, and completely God ordained love story. Oh Valentines day.

We don’t remember when we met. Somewhere around 2004-possible. We just remember being friends. We met at church we think. Not a very memorable first impression for either of us. From the beginning one of us has taken turns liking the other. We became friends while I was doing Westside’s intern program and started hanging out. Then the true history of back and forth starts...

He came to my Christmas party with me one year, then someone else the next, then him again. He Kissed me on the Ithaca steps and asked me out at High Tides. Again poor timing.
He brought me flowers at work and I cried because I don’t know how I felt. He asked me out and I said no because I wasn’t sure we were on the same page spiritually. The same day I said yes to someone else. He started dating someone else too. Then I moved to Seattle coming home for summer and breaks. My Scotty and I were again single in July of 2008. Neither of us took the time to recover and fell into a bit of a rebound/summer romance. Not to many people were thrilled about it.

That fall I moved back to Seattle to finish school and we continued the back and forth. We broke up. I decided there was no future. But he decided differently. He asked my father permission to date me. That whatever the differences, that whatever it took to be the man he needed to be, he would make those changes. One Dinner date later, Christmas 2008 and we were back together.

Valentine’s Day 2009, on top of the space needle, after we had been “together” for about 9 months, he said he loved me. August, we got engaged. November 2009 married at last. 7 years of back and forth and now a year or wonderful marriage. 3 valentines under our belt and more to come.
